FAQ

Gastroenterology

A gastroenterologist is a physician who specializes in the gastrointestinal tract (including the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines) and other digestive organs (liver, pancreas, bile ducts and gallbladder). Gastroenterologists not only prescribe medicines but also perform endoscopic procedures (e.g. upper endoscopy and colonoscopy).

If you have complained to your family doctor about digestive system problems such as frequent flatulence (gas), abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, jaundice or heartburn or anything affecting your digestive system or if u have a family history of GI cancer, Inflammatory Bowel Disease etc.

Gastroenterologists perform endoscopic procedures but do not perform open surgery. If necessary, they work closely with surgeons. Gastro surgery department is available at the hospital.
